Front of House Assistant Manager

Full-time - Hands on leadership role

Eclectic Tastes is seeking an experienced and energetic Front of House Assistant Manager to join our growing team. This is a hands-on, floor-based role supporting the day‑to‑day running of our busy café. Perfect for someone who thrives in service, leads by example, and loves creating memorable guest experiences.

About the Role

Working as part of our Front of House management team, you will work closely with the owner to ensure smooth, efficient service across all trading periods. This hands‑on role involves leading from the front, supporting and mentoring the FOH team, and helping maintain the warm, community‑focused atmosphere Eclectic Tastes is known for. You will also play an active role in ensuring all FOH shifts are appropriately staffed and covered.

You will work a flexible roster including weekends and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Front of House Leadership

  • Lead, motivate and support the FOH team during service

  • Maintain a strong floor presence and set the standard for service excellence

  • Assist with training, onboarding and ongoing staff development

Daily Operations

  • Oversee the day‑to‑day running of the venue, ensuring smooth and efficient service

  • Manage stock control

  • Monitor food and beverage quality, presentation and consistency

  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow, service standards and revenue

Customer Experience

  • Deliver warm, attentive and personalised service

  • Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally

  • Uphold service standards and ensure every guest feels valued

Team Culture & Community

  • Foster a positive, supportive and cohesive team environment

  • Build strong relationships with regulars and the wider community

  • Contribute to a workplace culture that values respect, communication and collaboration

  • Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure adherence to food safety, RSA and OH&S requirements

  • Proactively identify and mitigate operational risks

Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years’ experience in a supervisory or management role within a café or restaurant

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a fast‑paced FOH team

  • Strong communication, organisational and problem solving skills

  • Solid understanding of food safety, RSA requirements and OH&S standards

  • Passion for hospitality, great food and genuine customer service

  • Detail oriented, reliable and confident in managing busy service periods

  • Qualifications

  • RSA (required)

  • First Aid (preferred)

  • Food Safety (preferred)
